WALLAGRASS, Maine -- A State Police trooper and a Fort Kent woman escaped serious injury Friday after an accident on Route 11.

State Police Sgt. Brian Harris said Friday that Trooper Tim Saucier was northbound on the roadway at around 8:30 p.m. when Amy Carpenter, 41, of Fort Kent lost control of her vehicle.

Carpenter was southbound on Route 11 when her vehicle veered out of control on snow and ice covered roads and spun across the center line.

Saucier managed to avoid the collision, but Carpenter careened off the roadway and struck a garage owned by Julie Taylor of Wallagrass.

After striking the building, Carpenter continued through the garage and struck some trees.

Carpenter was wearing her seatbelt and was not injured in the crash.

Taylor's garage sustained extensive damage and Carpenters vehicle was judged a total loss.

Poor weather conditions and speed were factors in the crash.
