A state police corporal was flown by helicopter to a hospital for treatment of head injuries after his cruiser slid on ice in Wyoming County and slammed into a tree Friday morning, state police said.
Cpl. David Judge, with the state police station in Tunkhannock, was driving on Route 29 in Noxen Twp. when he hit a patch of ice and lost control of his cruiser, according to a state police news release.
Cpl. Judge's cruiser left the road and hit a tree. He suffered head injuries, according to the release.
Emergency responders had to pull Cpl. Judge from his vehicle before he was flown to Geisinger Wyoming Valley in Plains Twp. for treatment, according to the release.
As of Friday afternoon, Cpl. Judge was in serious but stable condition, state police said.
A hospital spokeswoman said later Friday that she did not have any further information about Cpl. Judge.
