ORANGE, California -- Orange Police Department motor officers increased enforcement presence at Grijalva Park following reported concerns involving unsafe and illegal e-bike and motorcycle activity in the area.

According to newly released video footage, an officer initially warned a rider that the behavior observed was “a really, really bad idea” and advised the individual to stop the vehicle. The officer also stated the rider appeared to be a local student and warned that the incident could be identified by family members, saying, “It’s gonna find you. What’s Mom and Dad are gonna say when they see your face when I show them this?”

The officer repeatedly issued commands for the rider to stop, including, “Get off the bike, or we’re gonna have big problems,” as the rider allegedly attempted to continue riding.

The video then shows the enforcement contact transitioning into a citation stop. The officer advised the rider, “Alright man, this is a ticket for a few things,” before listing multiple violations, including alleged evading or fleeing a police officer, unsafe operation of a motorized vehicle in a city park, lack of license plates, no helmet, no valid driver’s or motorcycle license, no insurance or registration, and no mirrors on the vehicle.

The department reported that the rider was ultimately cited for multiple violations and that the motorcycle involved was impounded.

Officials said the enforcement effort is part of ongoing operations aimed at addressing unsafe riding behaviors and improving compliance with traffic laws in high-use recreational areas.

No injuries were reported in connection with the incident. The case highlights continued enforcement focus on illegal and unsafe e-bike and motorcycle operation in public park spaces.
