Video: Calif. Police Officer Avoids Injury After SUV Hits Motorcycle During Stop

Body camera footage captures a close call when a passing vehicle crashes into a Beaumont police motorcycle during a traffic stop, narrowly missing an officer.

The driver of the vehicle hadn't been focused on the road when the crash happened, police said.

According to the department, the officer and stopped driver were uninjured. The officer's motorcycle, however, suffered significant damage, which put it out of service.

"This incident is a strong reminder of the important work our officers do every day to keep our roadways safe—and how quickly situations can change in a split second," the department stated.
