A domestic violence suspect led Michigan police on a wild wrong-way interstate chase across multiple counties earlier this month.

The incident happened at about noon Oct. 6 after Bath Township police began pursuing a suspect reportedly armed with a handgun in connection with a domestic violence case, WLIX-TV reports. The suspect was spotted along Interstate 96 in Ingham County, and help from other agencies was requested when the suspect refused to stop for officers.

The chase continued into Livingston County, where deputies there joined in, according to the sheriff's office. During the pursuit, the suspect crossed the median at a highway turnaround and began driving into oncoming traffic.

Avoiding other vehicles as they swerved out of the way, the suspect was finally stopped when a deputy performed a PIT maneuver. He was taken into custody after police deployed a Taser when the suspect exited his vehicle.

"Thanks to excellent coordination between agencies, our deputies helped safely apprehend the suspect without injury to law enforcement or the public!" the Livingston County Sheriff's Office stated in a social media post. "The subject was turned over to Bath Township Police at the scene. Great teamwork makes our communities safer!"
