A driver is facing “a long list of charges” after allegedly stealing a bobtail semi-truck, according to the Cobb County Police Department.
Police say 911 calls began pouring in June 24 after a semi-truck was seen driving recklessly and nearly crashing into other vehicles in west Cobb.
An officer attempted a traffic stop after spotting the truck on Dallas Highway, according to police. However, in an attempt to evade officers, the driver fled onto both the northbound and southbound lanes of Barrett Parkway, officials said.
Recently released dash cam footage shows the driver leading police on a chase through the county.
The truck is seen driving over medians, weaving between cars and driving on the wrong side of the road, before veering off the road and crashing into a fence. Multiple officers then order the driver out of the car and arrest him, per the video.
The driver, accused of stealing the vehicle, “now faces a long list of charges,” police say.
“The public was at serious risk, and officers from Precinct 5 weren’t about to let that slide,” police wrote on social media.
