Watch Utah Police Officer Intentionally Crash into Wrong-Way Driver

March 1, 2024
Kaysville Police Officer Kalawai Delos Santos suffered moderate injuries when he dramatically stopped a wrong-way driver by colliding with the vehicle as it barreled down the interstate.

A Utah police officer risked his life to stop a wrong-way driver when he intentionally collided with the suspect's vehicle last month.

The incident happened at around 2 a.m. Feb. 9 after Kaysville Police Officer Kalawai Delos Santos saw a car barrelling down Interstate 15 in the wrong direction, KSL-TV reports. Dashboard camera footage captured Delos Santos intentionally crashing into the wrong-way vehicle in order to stop it.

“I need medical. Bad. ….I’m stuck in my car. I can’t get out," Delos Santos can be heard saying following the collision.

Rescue crews needed to extricate Delos Santos from his cruiser, and he was rushed to the hospital with moderate injuries. The officer, however, was back on duty on Monday after he was “medically cleared,” according to the department.
