WatchGuard Video Recognized as Worldwide Market Leader in Mobile Video

    March 29, 2017
WatchGuard's integrated video system leads industry for third time
Related To: WatchGuard Video, a Motorola Solutions Company

ALLEN, Texas, March 24, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The new market research report published by IHS Markit in March 2017, recognized WatchGuard Video as the worldwide market share leader for mobile video, which includes body cameras and in-car video systems.  This is the third consecutive report (2012, 2014, 2016) from IHS Markit listing WatchGuard as the worldwide market share leader in mobile video.

The bi-annual report titled "Mobile Video Surveillance and Body Worn Cameras Report" provides a comprehensive assessment of the global market for mobile video surveillance equipment and ranks manufacturers of these products by percent of market share, including privately-held WatchGuard Video, and publicly-traded Taser International (TASR), L-3 Mobile Vision, Inc. (LLL) and Panasonic System Communications (TYO).

IHS Markit commented in the report, "A notable entry at the top end of the world market share table is WatchGuard Video, which has successfully capitalized on its leading position in the police in-car market to make considerable inroads into the body worn camera market, focusing on a solution that closely integrates both solutions."

"Our 4RE® In-Car System is the foundation on which agencies around the world have built their mobile video and evidence management programs," said Steve Coffman, WatchGuard President.  "We designed the VISTA® WiFi body-worn camera to replace the in-car wireless microphone and function as an integral part of the 4RE in-car system, creating the world's first and only fully integrated and synchronized system."

The system, which precisely synchronizes the in-car and body-worn cameras, allows agencies and district attorneys to view events captured from the in-car camera's third person perspective and the officer's body camera's first person perspective, while hearing recorded audio from inside and outside the car – all at the same time in synchronicity.  "This is our industry's holy grail," added Coffman.

WatchGuard's fully integrated and synchronized video system was introduced in June of last year.  Since that, hundreds of agencies have deployed this system, including police departments for the cities of Des Moines, IA and Detroit, MI.  The demand for this system drove WatchGuard's revenues up by 32% in 2016, and it underscores the importance of having a video evidence solution that fully integrates body-worn and in-car camera systems.
