In an effort to prevent vehicle break-ins during the holiday season, a Georgia police department went to someone who knows a thing or two about thievery during this time of year.

The Newnan Police Department is using the Grinch in a public service video that the agency posted to its Facebook page last week. In the viral video, the Dr. Seuss character is seen trying to poach presents and other valuables from unlocked cars.

"Well, we knew the Grinch would eventually get into some trouble," the social media post stated.

Det. Steve McCook told WAGA-TV that the hope is that as residents view and share the video, they also start following the tips that are included in it.
