E Med Future, Inc. presents NeedleZap&, a portable, rechargeable device that helps reduce accidental needlesticks by disintegrating the sharp portion of a hypodermic needle, while saving the contents for evidence. Nearly one million accidental needlesticks are reported annually in the United States. Unfortunately, many law enforcement personnel are exposed daily to the danger of infection, including HIV and hepatitis. More than 100 police departments are already using the unit to protect staff from accidental needlestick injuries. NeedleZap& is incredibly fast and operates easily with only one hand. Simply insert the hypodermic needle into the specially designed receptacle in the unit. By gently rotating the syringe, the needle is zapped away in seconds at a temperature of 2200°F.
