JENNINGS -- Kids ran out of a Jennings home and into a nearby police station early today to report that their mother had been shot, police say.
Police found Antoinetta M. Davis dead inside her tiny frame home, in the 7000 block of Florence Place, just before 2 a.m. today. Davis was 32.
The woman's 40-year-old boyfriend surrendered to police at about 5 a.m. at the St. Louis County justice services headquarters in Clayton.
Six children were inside the home when Davis was shot. They ranged in age from 2 to 13, said Lt. Jeff Fuesting of the St. Louis County Police Department. At least some were the children of Davis and the suspect.
It's unclear how many of the children, if any, saw the actual shooting, said Officer Randy Vaughn, a county police spokesman.
Davis' brother, reached by phone, declined comment.
Davis had not sought any restraining orders within the last six months in St. Louis County, according to the county's adult abuse office.
The police station they ran to is the former Jennings police station, now used by St. Louis County police, on Jennings Station Road. The police facility is steps away from the crime scene.
