Okla. Copper Thief Caught Dangling From Attic

The man was taken into custody on complaints of larceny from a house and larceny of copper.

A Tulsa man was arrested Thursday after he was found with his legs dangling out of the attic of a vacant house as he was in the process of stealing copper, police alleged.

Rodney Gene Coleman, 43, was taken into custody on complaints of larceny from a house and larceny of copper.

Police responded Thursday morning to a report of a theft in progress at an abandoned house at 38 E. 50th St. North, according to Coleman's arrest report. The 911 caller said the thief was in the attic.

Police entered the house and saw Coleman's legs hanging out of the door to the attic, according to the arrest report.

Police allege that Coleman was stripping the copper wire out of the house and that a briefcase full of wire was found on the floor.

Police estimated that more than $200 worth of copper had been stolen.
