RICHMOND, Va. -- A tracking dog helped Richmond police quickly make an arrest following the armed robbery of a gas station and convenience store this morning.

There were no injuries in the robbery, which was reported at 3:02 a.m. at the Exxon/Circle K in the 1700 block of East Broad Street.

Police said a man in his 30s and brandishing a handgun robbed the business before fleeing on foot.

A canine unit was called to the store, and a dog led police to a construction site about two blocks east of the business, where officers found a man hiding.

The man, whose identity was not immediately available, was charged with robbery.
