Va. Sheriff's K-9 Killed in Line of Duty Remembered

While on a search on a case, another dog injured Maggie, and she succumbed to an infection she sustained with respect to the injury.

STAFFORD, Va. -- A Louisa County K-9 killed in the line of duty this month is remembered and honored as part of Virginia's law enforcement team, as well as a faithful friend.

Maggie, born Oct. 14, 2005, died from injuries sustained while serving in the line of duty Dec. 12.

She was a 6-year veteran of the Louisa County Sheriff's Office and a part of the patrol division and she served with her handler, Lt. Patrick Sheridan.

While on a search on a case, another dog injured her, police said, and she succumbed to an infection she sustained with respect to the injury.
