Feb. 21--The victim in an early Sunday morning domestic dispute was arrested while trying to bail out his girlfriend from jail.
Anthony M. Rogers, 25, of Rayon Street, Burlington, was arrested at 5:55 a.m. Sunday at the magistrate's office in Graham. He was charged with driving while license revoked and was placed under $500 bond, according to a Burlington Police Department news release.
A few hours earlier, Rogers' girlfriend, Jasmine Monet Sowell, 22, of Maple Avenue, Burlington, was arrested on multiple charges.
At about 2:29 a.m. Sunday, Burlington police were watching a large crowd leave a local club. While in the parking lot of Huff's convenience store on Maple Avenue, police watched Sowell, who was driving a 1997 Kia Sportage, allegedly ram a 1993 Mercury Marquis in the back of the car. Rogers was driving the Mercury Marquis.
Sowell then backed out of the parking lot at a high speed and went onto Maple Avenue, which caused her to spin out and strike the curb.
Police surrounded the vehicle and found Sowell and two passengers in the car. No one was injured. Rogers also was not injured in the incident. The car he was driving belonged to Sowell, and police determined the incident was a result of a domestic dispute between Rogers and Sowell.
Sowell was charged with driving while impaired, assault with a deadly weapon and operating a motor vehicle while fleeing and attempting to elude law enforcement. Sowell blew a .16. She was placed in the Alamance County jail under $2,500.
