Texas Deputies Wounded in Ambush that Left Gunman Dead

Two Harris County sheriff's deputies were struck by gunfire during a shootout with a 43-year-old suspect at a residence in Katy.

Two Texas deputies were wounded after an ambush that left the suspected gunman dead Tuesday.

The incident happened at about 8 p.m. after Harris County sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a man firing a weapon inside a residence, KPRC-TV reports. As deputies arrived at the scene, which officials called an ambush situation, the suspect began shooting, and the deputies returned fire.

During the shootout, one deputy was shot in the leg, and another was grazed in the ear. The 43-year-old suspect also was struck by gunfire and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The deputies were taken to the hospital, and their injuries weren't considered life-threatening.
