The FBI is searching for a person of interest in connection with a shooting on the Yavapai-Apache Indian Reservation in Camp Verde that seriously injured Officer Preston Brogdon.

An Arizona tribal officer was critically wounded in a shooting Wednesday, and federal authorities are searching for a person of interest.

The incident happened at around 7:30 p.m. in the Tunli housing area of the Yavapai-Apache Indian Reservation in Camp Verde, KNXV-TV reports. Tribal officers responded to reports of gunfire, and when they arrived, a man exited his vehicle and began shooting before fleeing on foot.

Yavapai-Apache Police Officer Preston Brogdon—a five-year veteran of the department—was wounded and taken to the hospital in critical but stable condition. No one else was injured during the incident.

Valentin Rodriguez, 39, is being sought by the FBI as a person of interest. Investigators believe he might be a member of or connected to Camp Verde's Yavapai-Apache tribe and that he might have information about the shooting.
