Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) has been in the forefront of the development, manufacture, and support of unmanned systems for more than a decade. We have successfully fielded hundreds of systems worldwide performing a variety of missions including reconnaissance, surveillance, improvised explosive device (IED) defeat, unexploded ordinance (UXO) and landmine clearance, and hazardous materials handling. At ARA, our robotics efforts run the gamut from micro unmanned air vehicles to large unmanned ground vehicles in support of military operations, law enforcement, emergency response, and exploration in areas that are unsafe for, or inaccessible to, humans. Our robotic systems include:
- Pointman, a compact, highly mobile reconnaissance robot;
- Nighthawk, a hand-launchable micro air vehicle; and,
- The Modular Robotic Control System (MRCS),
a robotics kit to convert commercial
construction equipment to teleoperated
control.
