A 24-year-old New Jersey woman went on a rampage Friday in Long Island, New York — breaking into an apartment to beat a person inside and then ramming two police cars while trying to flee from cops, authorities said.
The incident began at about 10:10 p.m. when Luvleek Alexandre pushed her way past a 77-year-old man into an apartment on Union Avenue in New Cassel, according to Nassau County police.
Alexandre then punched a 20-year-old woman repeatedly as the man tried to intervene, according to police. She then ripped away the younger woman’s cell phone and threw it, causing it to break.
Next, Alexandre grabbed a steak knife and threatened the other woman, who managed to call 9-1-1 from a different phone, police said.
After Alexandre finally left the apartment in her car, she was stopped by police a short distance away. She drove off, though, when officers approached her vehicle on foot, police said.
When police blocked her in on Talbot Drive a short time later, Alexandre intentionally struck a driver’s side door on one patrol car and the put her car in reverse and slammed into the front end of a second police vehicle, authorities said.
She then refused orders to exit her car, but police forced their way in and arrested her. She turned down medical treatment at the scene before being brought to a local hospital for an evaluation. No police officers were hurt.
Nassau County police charged Alexandre, of Newark, with burglary, menacing, criminal mischief, reckless endangerment, unlawfully fleeing from police during a motor vehicle stop and a weapons offense.
