    Georgia Sheriff's Deputy Wounded; Suspect Taken Into Custody

    A Colquitt County Sheriff's deputy was shot and a suspect identified as Nick Warnell was apprehended following a manhunt Thursday night.

    A Colquitt County Sheriff's deputy was shot and a suspect identified as Nick Warnell was apprehended following a manhunt Thursday night.

    A Colquitt County, Georgia Sheriff's deputy was shot and a suspect was taken into custody Thursday evening.

    Sheriff's officials announced later that night that Nick Warnell had been apprehended following a manhunt, WALB-TV.

    Investigators said that one deputy was wounded and another was struck by a vehicle in the confrontation with Warnell.

    The identities of the deputies or the severity of their injuries were not released.

    During the manhunt, the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office posted a photo of Warnell and later made an updated post announcing his arrest.

    "Subject Nick Warnell has been apprehended. Will release details at a later time when it becomes available... We are not seeking any other suspects at this time. Law Enforcement will remain in the area for the time being and we have no reason to believe any further threat exists in the immediate area."

    The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called in to help with the investigation.
