Suspect Who Reportedly Sought to 'Kill All White Police Officers' at White House Arrested

United States Secret Service officials say that Michael Arega traveled from Dallas to Washington, D.C. with the intention to "kill all white police officers" at the White House.

A Texas man who reportedly traveled to Washington, D.C. with the intention to "kill all white police officers" at the White House was arrested Monday afternoon.

According to a news release from the United States Secret Service, the agency's Protective Intelligence Division received a be on the lookout (BOLO) from the Montgomery County, Maryland Police Department for Michael Arega around 2:55 p.m.

Security at the White House was heightened and at approximately 4:05 p.m., the suspect was observed by Secret Service agents on the north side of Pennsylvania Avenue near Lafayette Park.

Arega was immediately detained by Secret Service Uniformed Division Officers and arrested without incident.

The Dallas resident was transported to the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department. Charges are currently pending and the investigation is continuing.

Secret Service officials stated that the arrest "demonstrates the extensive cooperation between law enforcement agencies in the National Capital Region."
