Pa. State Police Evacuate Town while Searching for Explosives

Some residents of a Lebanon County town were told to immediately evacuate their homes Tuesday while police search for explosive devices.

In a Tuesday news release, Pennsylvania State Police said anyone who lives within a quarter mile of 11 Central Drive in Millcreek Township should evacuate until further notice. The address is for a home in a residential neighborhood outside Newmanstown.

State police said troopers and fire police will be seen in the area Tuesday “due to removing explosive devices.”

Police did not immediately elaborate on who had the explosives, why they had them, or how they were discovered.

Police said they will update the community “when it is safe to return to your residences.”
