ISTANBUL - A police officer was fatally stabbed by a suspected of the terrorist militia Islamic State in Istanbul late Sunday.
The man had been detained earlier in connection with a possible planned IS bomb attack, the Turkish news agency Anadolu reported, citing police sources.
The suspect was later taken to police headquarters, where he reportedly attacked the officer, who was escorting him to a detention room.
The officer was taken to hospital, where he died of injuries sustained in the knife attack. The suspect was shot dead by police officers.
