A Chandler, Arizona police officer was shot with an arrow while responding to a call Wednesday night.
Dispatchers received calls and texts made by Thomas Stephen Leeper beginning around 9:30 p.m. threatening to shoot officers, family members and himself, according to KNXV-TV.
When officers arrived at the residence near McClintock Drive and Chandler Boulevard they learned that the 32-year-old had shot at a family member with a bow and arrow.
The suspect then exited the house still armed with the bow and arrow and shot one of the officers in the arm.
Less-lethal impact munitions were used to take Leeper into custody before being He being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. He will be charged with aggravated assault on an officer and domestic violence-related charges.
The injured officer was transported to a local hospital for treatment and later released.
Officials said that Leeper was arrested in 2016 after a string of arson fires in Chandler.
