JANESVILLE, Wisconsin -- Authorities continue ramping up manpower in the search for the Janesville man who stole guns and is considered armed and dangerous.
The Rock County Sheriff's Office wrote in a release that "additional federal resources" had been brought in from across the country Monday morning to aid in the search for Joseph A. Jakubowski.
There are now 165 local, state and federal authorities involved in the manhunt, according to the release.
Jakubowski is wanted as a fugitive suspected of stealing firearms from a rural Janesville gun shop and sending an anti-government manifesto to President Donald Trump, according to sheriff's office.
Local, state and federal officials are entering their fourth day of searching for Jakubowski. As of Monday morning, authorities had received 425 tips and had followed up on more than 300 leads.
Sheriff Robert Spoden said some manpower and technical equipment to help with the manhunt is now coming straight from federal intelligence headquarters in Washington, D.C., and Quantico, Virginia.
He acknowledged the level of police involvement on a single criminal case is unprecedented.
"We've never seen this level of police presence in Rock County," Spoden said.
Federal and local police investigators are continuing to interview associates of Jakubowski, in part, in an effort to put together a personality profile on Jakubowski, Spoden said.
He said he could not share any details about what those efforts have gleaned.
Investigators are focusing manpower locally because of the significant threat authorities believe is being posed by a local resident, Spoden said.
He said the search also continues to have a statewide and even national tone.
"We don't know exactly where he is. We're going under the assumption that he's remaining in the area," Spoden said. "We realize he may want to leave our area and go somewhere else."
Local police were not planning another press conference Monday unless the case took a major turn, but the sheriff's office has continued to send out updates every several hours.
Investigators have begun planning for the upcoming week and started by contacting area school districts. They advised them at Jakubowski remains at large so districts could decide what precautionary measures to take even though no specific threat has been made to any specific school or district, according to the release.
Tips and any other information related to Jakubowski are still sought by investigators who remind the public that the FBI is offering a $10,000 reward for any information leading to his capture.
Authorities are asking people to call 911 to reported sightings of Jakubowski. People can report general tips or historical information on Jakubowski to 1-800-225-5324.
