K-9 Nabs Pair Who Almost Ran Down Officer

A man and a woman were arrested with the help of a San Jose police dog Sunday night.

Officials say the couple attempted to run over an officer an rammed a police cruiser before ditching their vehicle and eluding capture for close to three hours, according to The Mercury News.

Officers in the gang-suppression unit tried to stop a car near Story Road and McLaughlin around 6:25 p.m. when the driver drove toward an officer who was on foot, forcing the officer to get out of the way.

After the two occupants abandoned their vehicle and ran into the neighborhood, a police dog helped apprehend them around in a back yard 9:45 p.m.

The woman who was driving and her male passenger were both arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on an officer, and were also wanted on felony warrants.
