Texas SWAT Officer Shot Serving Warrant

A Grand Prairie SWAT officer was shot while serving a search warrant at the Forest Ridge Apartments.

A Grand Prairie police SWAT officer was shot Thursday while serving a search warrant at the Forest Ridge Apartments in north Arlington, police said.

The officer "sustained non-life-threatening injuries," police officials stated on social media.

The call came in at 8:03 p.m. from the apartment complex in the 2900 block of Forest Hollow Lane, an Arlington dispatcher said.

A Grand Prairie SWAT team was serving a narcotics warrant when "suspect opened fire, striking officer in hand. Bullet traveled up arm, stopped by Kevlar vest," a Twitter post said.

A suspect was taken into custody, according to TV news reports.

Further details were unavailable at 11 p.m.
