Ky. Police Officer Shoots Man Trying to Carjack Undercover Unit
A Kentucky police officer fatally shot a suspect who tried to carjack an unmarked undercover unit Monday.
The shooting happened just before 1:30 p.m. as undercover officers in plain clothes from Louisville police's Fugitive Unit were investigating a wanted man in the Portland neighborhood, WLKY-TV reports. That's when a man approached the unmarked cruiser and tried to carjack the vehicle.
One of the officers opened fire and shot the suspect. The man was rushed to the hospital, where he later died.
The officer who shot the suspect is a 10-year veteran of the force, said Louisville Police Chief Jacquelyn Gwin-Villaroel.
