An off-duty Detroit police officer was caught in a shootout with another driver Monday.
The alleged road rage incident happened while the officer was traveling on Detroit's west side, WJBK-TV reports. No details have been released as to what led to the shooting.
According to WDIV-TV, around a dozen Detroit police officers responded to the incident after the officer was able to safely call 9-1-1. It's unclear if the officer was injured in the shooting.
The mother of the off-duty officer told WJBK that the violence erupted following a collision of some type.
"Yes, it was, far as I know, the guys that she got into the accident with, they opened fire at her, so she shot back," said the mother.
Police are investigating the shooting and looking at traffic camera footage to identify suspects.
