Off-Duty Pa. Corrections Officer Opens Fire on Armed Carjacker
An off-duty corrections officer in Philadelphia fired shots at an armed carjacker late Monday, but he was unable to stop the suspect from taking off with his car.
The incident happened at about 11 p.m. as an off-duty corrections officer was leaving a friend's house in the city's Feltonville neighborhood, WTXF-TV reports. As he was getting into his car, the officer was confronted by an armed man who pulled him from the vehicle.
The suspect quickly got behind the wheel and drove off. The corrections officer then fired five shots as the car sped away.
The vehicle eventually was recovered, and it was found with five bullet holes and fresh blood inside. Police are trying to determine if a 21-year-old man who was shot and wounded in his arms is connected with the carjacking.
