NORTH HAVEN, CT - O.F. Mossberg & Sons, Inc., a leading American firearms manufacturer, was presented with a National Rifle Association (NRA) Publications Golden Bullseye Award during the recent NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits in Atlanta, Georgia. Shooting Illustrated selected the Mossberg 940 Pro Thunder Ranch semi-auto shotgun with their Shotgun of the Year Award.
For consideration of an NRA Golden Bullseye Award, the product must be recently introduced and available to consumers; evaluated by an NRA staff member or regular contributor to the magazine; exceeded the evaluator’s expectations; be innovative in design and function; and styled in a manner befitting the shooting and hunting industry. Winners are selected by a committee consisting of editors, graphic designers, and veteran NRA Publications staff, representing more than a century of collective experience in the shooting and hunting industry.
The Mossberg 940 Pro Thunder Ranch 12-gauge semi-auto shotgun was designed in conjunction with Thunder Ranch Founder, Clint Smith, and the Thunder Ranch staff. Based on a cleaner running gas-operating system, the 940 Pro platform features corrosion-resistant internal parts and finishes; oversized operating controls; patent-pending receiver cut for direct mounting of micro dot sights; and adjustable stock for length-of-pull, drop, and cast. Updated features to the Thunder Ranch edition includes an innovative forend design with integrated heat shield, QD cups, and M-LOK® slots; stabilizing barrel clamp with additional M-LOK slots and sling swivel stud; QD cups on the stock; 18,5-inch cylinder bore barrel, and redesigned one-piece magazine tube. Completing the package is a durable Cerakote® Patriot Brown finish on the stock, forend, barrel, and receiver.
