An NYPD officer was rushed to the hospital in a police cruiser Friday after he was shot in Queens, police said. The officer was shot in the leg and arm on 22nd Road near the Whitestone Expressway Service Road in Astoria at about 8:50 a.m., police sources said.

Cops at the scene rushed the shot officer to Jamaica Hospital in an NYPD patrol cruiser, the sources said. His condition was not immediately known.

Details about what led to the shooting were not immediately released.

The shooting comes about a month after Police Officer Didarul Islam was gunned down in a Midtown Manhattan skyscraper by rampaging gunman Shane Tamura.
