St. Louis Police Officer Injured, Suspect Fatally Shot in Altercation
ST. LOUIS, Missouri -- A man was shot by police officers in northwest St. Louis Tuesday morning, police said.
Authorities say the man was shot by officers near the intersection of Hodiamont Avenue and Page Boulevard about 11:15 a.m. and was taken to a hospital. The man's injuries were not life-threatening, police said.
Authorities did not immediately explain the circumstances of the shooting.
Police said one male suspect remains at large.
One officer was hurt in the altercation, possibly from glass hitting the forehead, police said. The injury was said to be minor. The officer was taken to a hospital for treatment. Initial reports from police indicated two officers had been hurt, but the department later corrected that information.
Several areas near the scene were cordoned off by police tape, including a section of Page Boulevard and the 1200 block of Hamilton Avenue a few blocks away.
A police evidence technician was examining a black sedan on Hamilton Avenue after the shooting. Officers were using a dog to search the area.
The incident is the second officer-involved shooting in the city within a week. An armed 17-year-old, Rehyen Bost-McMurray, was fatally shot by officers on Nov. 23, Thanksgiving Day, in the College Hill neighborhood of St. Louis. Police said Bost-McMurray pointed a gun at officers.
A 14-year-old was also shot in that incident but survived.
