Jan. 01--An Enterprise man spent the first day of the New Year behind bars after police charged him trying to kill four officers during a shooting.

According to a statement from Enterprise Police Detective Sgt. Steve Russell, police arrested 35-year-old Thomas Mark Boucher, and charged him with four felony counts of attempted murder.

The following happened according to the police statement: police made the arrest after responding to a domestic call around 1 a.m. at a residence on Frisco Drive.

After police spoke to the person who reported the domestic call police searched the residence.

When officers entered the back yard they were met with gunfire from Boucher, including at least one bullet that struck an Enterprise police officer.

Russell said the officer was "grazed" by a bullet in the lower torso of his body. He said the officer was unharmed, but taken to a local hospital as a precaution. The identity of the officer was not released.

Police returned fire at Boucher, but he was not harmed. Police managed to take Boucher into custody.

Boucher was taken to the Coffee County Jail. If convicted of the attempted murder charges Boucher faces 10 to 99 years or life in prison for each of the charges, which are class A felony crimes.

Russell said no charges were filed in the ongoing domestic investigation, but the woman who reported it was not injured.
