MIAMI --
Two people were taken to a hospital Tuesday morning after a police-involved shooting near Southwest 103rd Avenue and Kendall Drive.
Police say they were investigating a rash of robberies at the Nob Hill West Apartments early Tuesday morning when they saw three men inside what they believed was a stolen vehicle.
Police say the man behind the wheel of the car tried to run the officers over. According to police, they were forced to fire at the car, striking two of the men inside.
The men drove away from the apartment complex and ended up in the parking lot of a Pollo Tropical restaurant on Kendall Drive near Southwest 117th Avenue Road.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue say Michael A. Membrides, 22, and Ricardo Noa, 19, were airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital just before 2:30 a.m. Police said they were in stable condition Tuesday morning and are expected to survive.
The third man in the car, Marcos Acosta Quirch, 23, was taken into custody by Miami-Dade police.
Membrides has been arrested in the past on charges of burglary, battery and cocaine possession. Acosta has been arrested before on charges of armed robbery, carjacking and grand theft.
At 6 a.m. Tuesday, police were seen gathering evidence from the car the men were riding in.
Kendall Drive was closed between Southwest 103rd and 115th avenues during the investigation Tuesday morning.
