LOUISVILLE, Ky. --
A Fischerville man is in jail at Louisville Metro Corrections after Jeffersontown police said they uncovered a plot to kill police officers.
Randall Lacefield, 22, has been charged with two counts of attempted murder and two counts of conspiracy to commit murder.
According to arrest records, a confidential informant said Lacefield told them on Tuesday that he was going to kill a Jeffersontown police officer.
On Wednesday afternoon, conversations were recorded by undercover investigators at Captain's Quarters restaurant, and later outside the H.H. Gregg store on Taylorsville Road.
In those conversations, police say Lacefield talked in detail about money, weapons and motive.
The arrest citation said Lacefield gave the confidential informant a $260 down payment on an AR-15 rifle.
The motive is unclear, but WLKY News discovered that on June 28 Lacefield was arrested by Jeffersontown authorities following a police chase that hit speeds near 100 mph.
The chase ended at Taylorsville Road and Watterson Trial when Lacefield crashed his motorcycle into a minivan, injuring two people.
A not guilty plea was entered on Lacefield's behalf Thursday. He is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 1.
Police said one of the two people targeted by Lacefield is a high-ranking Jeffersontown police commander.
Lacefield was indicted on the four charges against him Thursday afternoon.
