A Euclid police officer committed suicide in one of the department's stations Wednesday morning, according to WEWS-TV.
Shortly before Sgt. Kevin Blakeley turned the gun on himself, he was told that charges would be filed against him after cash was found missing from the evidence room.
"Police officers, it's tough for them," Euclid Mayor Bill Cervenik told the news station. "They are a family and they lost a member today."
Blakeley spent the bulk his 28 years with the department working in narcotics and vice.
The department was slated to hold a press conference addressing the incident Thursday morning.
Officer will provide more details on this story as they become available.
