There is no questions that technology is playing a fundamental role in Law Enforcement today. Advancements in cameras, specifically weapon mounted gun cameras is a boundary-breaking technology that has proven to be an invaluable tool for capturing critical incidents conducted during police work. In an effort to bring the latest advancements to police agencies, GunEye has developed a first of its kind optic device with a secondary sighting system for mobile device usage.
How does it work? Our compact optic device uses technology to link a handgun or rifle directly to a mobile device/tablet using our GunEye Target App. Once the device senses movement, the unit automatically live streams and stores the content which can be downloaded for post-viewing. The unit is compact, bottom rail mounted with a versatile clamp system, and a rechargeable battery.
In addition to the viewing capabilities, GunEye provides Night Vision and a Low Light Flashlight combined. This advanced technology, and holistic system, means law enforcement officers can see what is ahead of them, helping them stay out of the line of fire, and can use the recording audio and video as a means for re-training, and an added layer of protection.
How did we get here? GunEye LLC of Palm Bay, Florida was founded in 2017. Two Co-founders, who are gun enthusiasts and techies started the conversation of how do we see ahead from the barrel of the gun. Then it became, how do we see over walls and around corners with a mobile device and stay out of the line of fire. The old cornershot gun/rifle was now considered obsolete. It had its shortcomings with little or no technology. It was the only thing close to what we wanted to accomplish with this product. Two and half years later of engaging micro- electronic engineers, GunEye Model 360IR Smart HD Weapon Mounted Gun Camera with S3 Technology/Night Vision became real. Our product launch was at the recent Shot Show 2022 and we created a buzz! So we opened pre-orders on our website at www.guneye.com to pre-sell the first 1,000 unit production run. Our manufacturing will be here in Central Florida. We engaged the assistance of Groundswell, a high-tech incubator in Melbourne, Florida who gives us the resources for us to get to market. Pre-orders will ship and purchasing will be available in May of 2022.
As holsters become a wide topic alongside product development, we listened to our audience for Law Enforcement and we are currently partnering with holster companies for custom fit and security levels to match.
Our goal with development of high-tech gun camera system is to provide law enforcement officers with choices. While the Department of Defense and many other agencies are focused on body cameras, they do not represent the advancements in technology and the ease of a optic gun device that GunEye provides – nor do they provide a secondary sighting system.
There is a gap to fill with body cams and dash cams that only a weapon mounted gun camera can
identify - an unobstructed view from the muzzle point of the gun upon the moment it is drawn. Guneye’s pistol point view verses an officers arms and movement side? The advantage is clear.
With the video captured on the weapon mounted gun camera, it is a fraction of all the data volume produced by body cams and in dash cams. The retrieval and storage of this video is minimal in the world of data storage with law enforcement agencies today.
GunEye has been able to price our unit very reasonably at $699.00 MSRP. Knowing what body cam and in dash cam systems can run, we are a fraction of the cost. Even if you add the cost of reholstering or retrofiting duty holsters, you are still at a gain.
Another important application is training. While insertion of simulators, and replicating real life scenarios are all common practices, it often does not reflect the complexities and dangers today’s law enforcement officers face. The video and auto captured by GunEye, will be a new tool for training and re-training officers.
