NYPD Buy-Back Program Nets 354 Guns

NYPD Buy-Back Program Gets Guns Off Streets
June 6, 2011

New York, N.Y. -- Hundreds of guns are off the streets of The Bronx, thanks to Saturday's buyback program.

Police managed to haul in 354 weapons -- including anUzi submachine gun and four AK-47-style assault rifles in exchange for bank cards worth up to 600 bucks.

Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said turning in the guns keeps them out of the hands of criminals, Bronx District Attorney Robert Johnson adding every weapon turned in means increased protection against series injury and death to New Yorkers.

If you want to make an anonymous turn in you can do so at any precinct around the city.
