Kan. Deputy Makes Arrest Despite Broken Wrist

A Sedgwick County Sheriff's deputy didn't let a broken wrist stop him from apprehending a man who ran from a traffic stop.

April 20--A Sedgwick County Sheriff's deputy didn't let a broken wrist stop him from apprehending a man who ran from a traffic stop in southwest Wichita late Thursday night, authorities said.

The deputy pulled over a white Cadillac shortly before 11 p.m. in the 1100 block of West Harry, near Seneca, a Sedgwick County dispatch supervisor said. The driver got out of his car and began running.

The man jumped over a nearby fence, KFDI reported. When the deputy also went over the fence, it collapsed and he landed awkwardly. Despite what was later confirmed to be a broken wrist, the deputy caught up with the driver, deployed his Taser and arrested the man, KFDI reported.

The deputy was treated for his broken wrist at a local hospital.
