Smartphones and Wearables Are the Future of the Computer-Aided Dispatch

For decades, law enforcement officers have relied on in-vehicle laptops to connect with dispatch and access critical information. However, when they leave their vehicle, officers often find themselves cut off from key information.

Samsung is partnering with leading computer-aided dispatch (CAD) providers including TriTech Software Systems to bring new mobile phone and wearables solutions to officers in the field.

“Mobility has been a technology that the public safety sector has used for years — it’s just been limited to the laptop in the police vehicles or firetrucks,” explains Scott MacDonald, TriTech vice president of public safety strategy at the International Association of Chiefs of Police Conference in Philadelphia.

“[With a smartwatch], in addition to being able to see quick notifications by glancing down at your wrist, [law enforcement officials] can also detect motion.”
