Snowy Footprints Lead Tenn. Police to Suspects in Beauty Store Break-In

Memphis police received assistance from the winter weather when they let footprints in the snow lead officers to two suspects accused of breaking into a beauty store.

Tennessee police officers received an assist from the weather when it came to nabbing two suspects accused of a commercial break-in this week.

The incident happened Sunday when Memphis police responded to a report of a break-in at an Ulta Store, WREG-TV reports. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the front window had been shattered and roughly $4,000 worth of beauty products had been stolen.

While investigating the scene, police discovered something else: footprints in the snow in the parking lot.

Officers followed the footprints, which led them to two suspects who were still in the shopping center parking lot. Police recovered a suitcase with the stolen items, and a 22-year-old man and a 20-year-old man were taken into custody in connection with the break-in.

This wasn't the only time this week the snow helped Memphis police. On Monday, officers saw two suspects trying to break into a gas station air machine.

The suspects fled, but footprints in the snow led police to one of the men. The 45-year-old suspect was found inside a nearby car, which had been stolen in December.
