Danny Golden, an off-duty Chicago police officer who was shot outside a bar while trying to break up a fight, married his fiancée in front of over 500 guests, including city police officers and firefighters.

A Chicago police officer paralyzed in a shooting while breaking up a fight was married over the weekend.

Danny Golden was off-duty when he was shot outside of a bar in the city's Beverly neighborhood in July 2022, WLS-TV reports. He married his fiancée, Casey Saflarsky, in front of over 500 guests, including city police officers and firefighters.

"There's nobody I've met who loves the city more than he does," said Golden's childhood friend Jeff Budz. "The injury he had, he overcame that. He's a tough kid, strong person, and Casey's even stronger, if you can believe that."

"They're such a great couple, and they both love each other so much, and they'll get through everything they can together," Golden's cousin Bridget Fasan.
