Little Stinker: Minn. Sheriff's Deputy Rescues Lost Baby Skunk
Footage of a Minnesota deputy coming to the rescue of an adorable baby skunk has been coming up roses for the law enforcement officer after the online clip went viral last week.
While on patrol, Olmsted County Sheriff's Deputy Nate Jacobson came across a baby skunk that had wandered onto a roadway, the agency stated in a social media post Thursday. Jacobson noticed the tiny animal was struggling as it moved closer to him along the pavement.
"I don't know what to do, it's so cute," Jacobson is heard saying in video footage he recorded that was posted online. "I don't know what to do."
Finally, the deputy scooped up Pepe Le Cute and took it to the Paws and Claws Humane Society in Rochester. Once at the shelter, Jacobson got a chance to feed his newfound furry friend a bottle.
"I think he's pretty thirsty," said Jacobson as part of his online viral video "skunk-date."
He also answered the burning question on everyone's mind.
"Anybody asking, I haven't gotten sprayed," said Jacobson.
Besides ensuring the baby skunk had a full belly, the staff at Paws and Claws also evaluated the animal for any injuries or illness.
"Thankfully, the skunk is healthy and will be just fine!" the sheriff's office stated. "The Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of Minnesota (in Roseville) will join Paws and Claws in continuing to provide care for the skunk."
