Video footage captured South Carolina police officers and bystanders springing into action to lift a car off a trapped motorcyclist after the vehicle collided with the cycle.
The incident happened Saturday along Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach, the city's police department stated in a social media post. In a video released by the police department, a motorcycle carrying two people is seen traveling in front of a car when that vehicle unexpectedly drives up on the cycle.
The impact of the collision flung one of the motorcyclists over the handlebars, while the other person became trapped beneath the car. Onlookers and nearby police officers are then seen quickly moving to lift the vehicle and pull the motorcyclist to safety.
"We are lucky to live and work in a community where everyone is ready to work together to help others," the department stated.
Both motorcyclists were taken to the hospital with injuries that weren't considered life-threatening, according to the department. The 25-year-old driver of the car was arrested and charged with having an open alcohol container and following too closely, Newsweek reports.
