Buffalo’s “singing cops” are getting the national TV spotlight again.

Buffalo Police Officers Armonde “Moe” Badger and Michael Norwood Jr. will compete on “The Amazing Race” in hopes of winning the reality show’s $1 million prize, according to WGRZ. Season 33 premieres next month, marking the series’ 20th anniversary, after a long delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“‘The Amazing Race’ was definitely the type of show that we could really be ourselves and really show people why we are who we are,” Norwood said in the team’s introduction video. “We’re both very, very competitive people.”

Norwood and Badger, who are partners in the Buffalo Police Department’s Housing Unit, previously went viral with videos of themselves singing songs like Shai’s “If I Ever Fall in Love” and Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud.” During the holidays, they were known as the “Caroling Cops” as they performed Christmas songs around Western New York.

Badger was a professional gospel singer before becoming a police officer, while Norwood has jokingly called himself “a legendary shower singer.” They appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in 2019.

Badger told “The Amazing Race” that he thinks they’ll be a strong team because they know each other so well, but the long-running series combines both mental and physical challenges around the world as teams race towards a final destination.

According to WIVB, Norwood lost 50 pounds for the show and Badger lost seven. “What I did was mostly watch him,” Badger said as Norwood laughed.

“The Amazing Race” season 33, hosted by Phil Keoghan, premieres Jan. 5 on CBS. Episodes will also be available for streaming on Paramount+ and on FuboTV (7-day free trial).
