The military units and their artillery support can easily equip Tygra with multi-purpose weapon systems. Remotely controlled weapon modules are great options, typical examples are 7.62mm and 12.7mm machine guns. Highly recommended for Cross-Country Patrol, Border Security and Personnel Movement Situations. Installation of active and passive protection units on the vehicle is relatively easy. On the other hand, peace support missions can also benefit from the incredible armoring of Tygra in conflict zones, especially in Africa and Middle-east.
Based on the Toyota Land Cruiser 70-series Chassis, Tygra keeps heavily dressed troops from overheating in high temperatures of deserts by using dual air-conditioners with the ceramic coating (developed by NASA) that acts as a lightweight thermal barrier. It possesses superior insulation qualities for hot and cold environments and far surpasses old fashioned and conventional insulating materials. Tygra provides ample room for a driver, commander and up to 6 crew members. And there is enough room for tactical gear too. Tygra comes in various body configurations and provides protection against assault rifles in levels similar to BR6 Equivalent to STANAG 2.
Both opaque and transparent areas meet or exceed the requirements of the European CEN 1522/23 and CEN 1063 standards. Level FB6 for opaque areas and BR6 for transparent areas. All four sides of the passenger compartments and the roof of the vehicle can prevail against 7.62x51mm M80 NATO Ball ammunition ( U.S. NIJ Level III, CEN level FB5/BR5 and FB6/BR6) at 0° incidence ( 90° to surface) and 10m range according to CEN 1063 and CEN 1522 Standards.
All opaque areas including the roof offer protection against weapons / ammunitions up to the following (at 90° impact accordance with the above specifications):
- Caliber 7.62x39mm, FJ/PB/FEC, AK47 Kalashnikov
- Caliber 5.56x45mm, FJ/PB/SCP, M16 Colt
- Caliber 7.62x51mm, FJ/PB/SC, (FN) FAL/LAR NATO rifle
The floor system provides protection against small IEDs and hand-grenades. The V-Hull design mitigates against blasts and it can prevail against threats such simultaneous detonation of two DM 51 (German Norm). Moreover, the floor offers protection against small anti-personnel mines too.
All transparent areas have multi-layered polycarbonate coating and can withstand against weapons / ammunitions up to the following (at 90° impact angle in accordance with specific standards)
- Caliber 7.62x39mm, FJ/PB/FeC, AK 47 Kalashnikov
- Caliber 5.56x45mm, FJ/PB/SCP, M16 Colt
- Caliber 7.62x51mm, FJ/PB/SC, (FN) FAL/LAR NATO Rifle
Bullet resistant glass is 39mm in thickness and it stays rigid in the steel frame. This helps in preventing water ingress using advanced sealing agents and forms.
