A woman was killed and a Renton police officer was stabbed in the face in Renton on Monday night, police say.
Multiple people called 911 reporting that they’d heard breaking glass and other suspicious noises in the 100 block of Burnett Avenue South around midnight, Renton police said in social media posts on Tuesday.
When officers arrived, one saw a man who immediately ran away, police said. The officer ran after the man, but during the chase the man stabbed the officer in the face with a knife.
The officer was seriously injured and taken to the hospital, police said.
Police arrested the 42-year-old man and, after taking him into custody, found a trail of blood leading them to a woman who had been stabbed to death inside a room.
Her relationship to the man is unknown, as are the circumstances of her stabbing.
