Suspect Steals Wis. Police Cruiser, Injures 4 Officers During Chase

  • A man with multiple warrants and wanted in connection with a domestic violence incident crashed while fleeing Wauwatosa police before stealing a cruiser, running down officers and kicking off another chase.

An Indiana police officer was injured over the weekend when a woman stole a cruiser during an arrest and struck the officer as she fled in the vehicle.

The incident happened Saturday after Jeffersonville police arrested a woman—identified as Jasmine Sheckles—for allegedly punching a woman and stealing her cellphone, WDRB-TV reports. As Sheckles was being arrested, she was able to steal a police cruiser, running down an officer as she fled.

Police pursued Sheckles, who eventually crashed the cruiser. Sheckles tried to steal another vehicle before she was apprehended by police.

No details were released concerning the officer's condition or the nature of the injuries. 

Sheckles faces charges of attempted murder, escape and other counts.
