DALLAS -- Dallas police shot a man in east Oak Cliff Saturday evening after he held a gun standing in the street, according to officials.
At about 5:15 p.m., officers responded to a report of a man shooting a gun in the 1200 block of Presidio Avenue, according to a news release from the department. On arriving, they saw a man armed with a gun in the street.
“Officers confronted the suspect and gave loud, verbal commands to drop the gun,” the release said.
When the man did not comply, officers fired, striking the man at least once, the release said.
Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to the scene and transported the man to a hospital in stable condition, the release said. Officers rendered medical aid until DFR arrived.
The man’s identity was not released by the police. No officers were injured, police said.
Police call logs show 19 units were called to the scene at about 5:20 p.m.
